CHARITY SOLICITATIONS BOARD
January 15, 1959
The meeting opened at 1:30 P.M. with the following present:
Walter Titzel, Chairman
Mrs. E. J. Daluel, Secy.
Dr. Don Cooke
Donald S. Williams

The Chairman called the meeting to order. Dr. Cooke moved that the
minutes of the meetings of October 16th and December 4th, 1958, be
approved in accordance lath copies submitted to each Board member in
writing. Motion was .seconded by Mr. Williams and carried unanimously.
The application o~ the Salvation Army for its 1959 fund drive was
again presented \'dthCaptain Broadstreet present to answer questions
or the Board and explain the financial repor;t that was presented.
Dr. Cooke moved to approve the Salvation Army 1959 fund drive.
Mr. Williams seconded the motion which was approved unanimously.
The application o~ the National Foundation to conduct solicitation
~or funds for its campaign against polio, arthritis and birth
defects was presented for confirmation as the application had
already been verbally approved. Dr. Cooke moved to confirm the
application. Mrs. Daniel seconded the motion which carried.
The third application to be presented was that of V.F.W. of Tarpon
Springs~ Flor1da~ to sell program advertising. Mrs. Daniel moved to
deny the application. Dr. Cooke seconded the motion which carried.
An app11Qation of the Springtime Lodge No. 592 Elks for the solicit-
ation o~ ads ~or a souvenir program was presented. Mrs. Daniel
moved that the application be referred to Mr. Hancock of the
Merchants Association and that a permit from the Charity Board was
not necessary. 'Dr. Cooke seconded the motion which ~mB carried.
The Clearwater Health and Education Association's application to
solicit funds to erect a building for the Community Pride Nursery
School was presented. Dr. Cooke moved the application be approved.
Mr. Williams seconded the motion which carried.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 2:40 P.M.
