A meeting of the Board of Trustees was held May 30, 1980 in
the conference room, Po11ce Department, 644 pierce Street,
Clearwater, Florida.

Mayor LeCher, Chairman, called the meeting to order at lQ:30 A.M.
and .called for approval of Minutes of meeting held April 18, 1980.
William Sedrick made a motion that the minutes be approved. Motion
seconded by Ray Kaminskas. Motion carried unanimously.
Item two on agenda was the maturing of three Certificates of Deposit.
Betty Ward reported that one $40,000. Money Market at Tallahassee
Federal matures ~1ay. 30th, and one $40,000. Money Market at Florida
. C) Federal and one Money Narket for $20,000. mature on June 13, 1980.
.~ .Ray Kaminskas made a motion that the Money Market at Tallahassee
Federal be renewed by mail at best interest rate possible.at
maturity, and that the two local C.D'.'s be renewed at the best
interest rate possible at maturity. Motion seconded by Donald
Hibbard. Motion carried unanimously.
Item three on agenda was ratification of Certificate of Deposit
purchase. Betty Ward reported that she had renewed a Money Market
CD at Guaranty Federal (amount of $20,000.00) on May 14, ,1980 at
interest rate of 9.495%. Ray Kaminskas made a motion that the
purchase be ratified. ~lotion seconded by William Sedrick. Motion
carried unanimously.

Item four on agenda concerned the anticipated check from the City
of Clearwater, representing amount due the Supplementary Pension
Fund pursuant to Section 185.11 of the Florida Statutes. Chief
Daniels advised that a copy of the transmittal letter to Mayor
LeCher from Bill Gunter, State Treasurer, was received, and
that the amount of monies .mailed to the City of Clearwater had
bee~ $191,952.68. Chief stated that perhaps the Board would want
to make a decision on investing all or a part of these monies
upon receipt of the check from the Finance Department. Ray
Kaminskas made a motion that $160,000.00 be invested in Money
M~rket CD's at best interest rate possible, and that the balance
be retained in the Barnett Savings Account. .He suggested that
perhaps these might be purchased in $80,000.00 denominations since
the accounts are now insured up to $100,000.00; : Motion seconded by
Donald Hibbard. Motion carried unanimously.
Item Five on the agenda was a request from Frank Daniels, Chief of

Police, for retirement benefits. Chief Daniels' letter was
submitted to" the Board. His last day, of work would be ..June 30,
1980,~ and official retirement date to be computed by Personnel
Department. William Sedrick made amotion that th~ request for
.pension benefits be approved, and that the .official retirement.
date established by the Personnel Department be used for the
computations. . Motion seconded by Donald Hibbard. Motion
carried unanimously. Chief Daniels abstained from'voting.
Item number six on' the agenda was request from Police Officer
Craig Gieseke. for disability retirement benefits. Chief
Daniels read correspondence from Craig Gieseke, including his
letter requesting pension benefits from SupplementaryP~n~ion
.',' and. copies of letters from Dermot J. .'o'connor, M. D., and A~
. Schneider, M.D. st. Petersburg,. ~etting forth his disability.
Ray Kaminskas advised that Craig Gieseke has been employed with
the'Police Department over ten years, and that his disability
retirement has been recommended by the Pension Advisory Committee
to the City Commission, acting as Trustees of the General
Employees~ Pension Plan. Ray Kaminskas made a motion that the
request for pension benefits be approved, subject to the final
date being established by the Personnel Department. Motion
seconded by Donald Hibbard. Motion carried unanimously.
