Meeting was called to order at 2:00 P.M. by the Chairman, Mayor Turner. ;. Present-were Assistant City Attorney Guy Kennedy, Chief of Police Willis Booth, Det. Sgt. E. Lester Marston, and Captain William McClamma. As this was the first meeting attended by Mayor Turner as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Booth explained the functions and principles :i of the Police Supplementary Pension Fund. Guy Kennedy then explained to those present the policy which was inaugurated to pay Mrs. Betty Ward for secretarial services in connection with the Clearwater Police Supplementary Pension Fund. This was to be paid on an annual basis, however Mrs. Ward had requested that instead of the annual ' payment, she be paid semi-annually. At the completion of Mr. Kennedy's explanation, there was a discussion as to the feasibility of increasing ;... the amount paid Mrs. Ward; or at least to make a survey to ascertain if ' the present amount paid was in line with that paid other persons performing similar secretarial and bookkeeping service. At the conclusion of the discussion,: - made the motion that Mrs. Ward be paid in the future on a semi-annual basis as of January 1 and July lst, the salary to be considered at some future date prior to the first payment June 30th. Motion seconded by Capt. McClamma, and passed unanimously. '.: Mayor Turner then appointed a committee to determine what they thought to be a fair amount to pay Mrs. Ward in the future, and to bring back their findings to the Board of Trustees at their earliest conveneince prior to June 30, 1966. Sgt. Marston was appointed chairman of the committee, with Mr. John Martens and Captain McClamma serving with him. The Chairman instructed Chief Booth, secretary, to transfer $500.00 from' the City National Bank Savings Account to the City National Bank checking account in order to have a suffieient amount in the checking account.
