The Mayor called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall parking lot. The
purpose of the meeting is to judge the dumpster screening contest.
The Solid Waste. Central Permitting, Public Works, Engineering, General Services
(Building & Maintenance), Gas and Marina Departments responded to the City Manager's
challenge to develop attractive, inexpensive "screens" for dumpsters.
The Commission viewed the prototypes and witnessed them being tested by a front-
end loader.

The City Manager reported all the entries cost approximately $70-75 in material and
labor. The Commission reviewed the entries once more taking into consideration how the
"screening" would have to be attached.
Consensus of the Commission was that the Engineering and Marina entries were
both rated #1 with Engineering's "marble" tile prototype for mainland use and Marina's
lattice work in keeping with the beach tropical seascape. Solid Waste's entry received a
honorable mention,
The Mayor announced the winners.
Consensus of the Commission was for several dumpsters of each winning entry be
constructed and field tested.
The meeting adjourned at 9:45 a.m.
