The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. in'the Annex Conference Room, City Hall Annex, 10 south Missouri Avenue. The following persons were present: Mr. Willie Brewton Mr.' Rudolph Miller Mrs. Lois Martin Mrs. Ella Atkins Mr. Walter Campbell Mrs. Jo Ann Wolfe Mrs. Anne Brooks Mrs. Molly Stephenson Mr. Don Jass The following persons were absent: Mr. John Welch, Jr. Mr. Winfred Infinger Mrs. Cherry Harris Following the invocation, the meeting began with of the minutes of the November 26, 1985 meeting. were discussed: a review and approval The following items ...-.- \ ..' \ "....."'/ 1. The rental rate for the use of City Community Centers' was again, questioned by Mrs. Martin, and a response was promised before the next committee meeting. (The attached application is used to determine the cost of the event - all costs are based upon experience factors) . 2. Mrs. Martin inquired about the new development by Allied Van Lines at the corner of N. Greenwood Avenue and Eldridge Street. The area is zoned "Light Industrial District" and adjoins the SCL Railroad Right- of-way. She expressed continued concern about moving vans parked along residential streets (in front of the homes of the truck drivers) She 'feels that they constitute a safety hazard. 3. The North Greenwood Revitalization Program Proposal was presented by Mr. Jass, and after a review by Committee members, they recommended approval of the proposal for presentation to the City Commission. 4. Mrs. Atkins reported on progress of rehabilitation at Condon Gardens - new roofs are being installed. The new metal doors on some units are presenting a problem because they require repeated adjustment. 5. Mr. Miller inquired as to the hours of operation of the new police sub-station in North Greenwood. He was informed of their varying schedule, and coordination with outside patrol activity to give maximum protection without establishing a predictable pattern. "-' . . ~ .' >.. ....'. :. : . He indicated that Dunedin has set a special rate for residents, and wondered if Clearwater might do the same. The fee at Clearwaterts Country Club is set by the Board of Directors and is not controlled by the City - although the present fees are less than private courses in the Tampa Bay Area. 6. Rev. Campbell reported that he met with Sgt. Palumbo of the' police sub~station, and that the police have been helpful in cleaning up the neighborhood. 7. Mrs. Brooks requested that Clearwater purchase the five acre parcel adjoining Palmetto Elementary School - price $250,000 - and that it be used for a swimming pool and recreation facilities. 8. Mrs. Stephenson reported that the Res Food Pantry is serving more and more people, and that they are using more volunteers and less paid staff. She also reported the 5 units at the Emergency Housing facility on Holt Avenue are going to be rehabilitated in the near futUre. The next meeting was scheduled for February 25, 1986.
