The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. in the Annex Conference Room,
City Hall Annex, 10 South Missouri Avenue.
The following persons were present:

Following the invocation, the meeting began with a review and approval of
the minutes of the October 22, 1985 meeting. The following items were
discussed:

1. Mr. Infinger reported that a large raft of water hyacinths
were floating in Lake Belleview and requested that they be
mechanically removed.
2. Mrs. Martin reported on a Welfare/Workfare program that is
successfully operating in Boston Hospitals. She also raised
the issue of industry's practice of hiring many part-time
employees to escap~ the cost of providing job related benefits.
3. Mrs. Stephenson reported that 1800 companies nationwide
currently donate one square foot of day-care space for their
employees for each 1,000 square feet of office space in excess
of 50,000 square feet. She requested that the City look into
such a requirement in their local building code.
4. Mr. Miller expressed' his concern about the lack of security
lighting around the Ilplumb House" in Ross Norton Park.
5. Mrs. Martin brought up the continuing problem of junk cars
parked along streets as well as private property throughout
North Greenwood. The IlGreenwood Patrol" is addressing this
issue on a case by case basis.
6. Mr. Infinger suggested that an incentive program be established
to encourage police to give warnings to drivers of unsafe
vehicles, and that a systematic follow-up inspection system
be established to insure that deficiencies are corrected.
7. Nominations for replacement committee members were discussed,
and the following persons were recommended:

B. Mrs. Martin requested that the Conuni ttee set up a pi,cnic
and tour of the neighborhoods this coming Spring.
9. Mrs. Wolfe inquired as to the status of new sidewalks along
the west side of Fairwood Avenue. She also reported that
additional lighting is needed in the parking areas of Cliff
Stevens Park. TO discourage unlawfull activities at night.
10. Mrs. Brooks made an appeal for financial support of the
flGreenwood Panthers".
11. There was a general discussion of the rate charged by the
City for groups using community centers. The consensus
was that the costs are too high.
12. Mrs. Stephenso~ reported that the RCS Food Pantry would not
pass out large food baskets at Christmas this year because
of the potential impact on available funding, and the
continuing need to supply food on a daily basis.
13. Mr. Infinger reported that teenagers are drinking alcoholic
beverages in Ed Wright Park (around the horseshoe courts)
on weekends and holiday~.
