Present: wilbert Bacon Estelle Dunn Dr. Arlita Hallam Joanne Laurenti Carolyn Moore Dr. William Raffaniello Absent: Trudi Bils, excused Shirley Hunt, excused ~ ,") ...;.. ,,,"I Clearwater Library Board Long Range plan Committee Meeting of January 26, 1995 Clearwater East Library 7:30 p.m. - 8:50 p.m. Dr. Hallam gave background information on the Long Range Plan; then reviewed the Public Library Effectiveness Study. Carolyn Moore reviewed Ideas for Effectiveness Questionnaire (attached). The following ideas for survey questions were discussed: 1) Get the impact of the Coop: are people using other libraries? Where and why? 2) In the past year the Library has become state of the art--Internet, Freenet, CD-ROM, etc. Do you use? Are you aware of it? .-'''"''-.10;, l.~ 3) Regarding various services: Are you aware of? Have you used? Is the use convenient? Mr. Bacon commented that people are most concerned about children and children's services. The Long Range plan was reviewed to see what things need to be continued. The members discussed security systems and whether there is a need for one. The concensus of the committee was to edit and bring back to the Library Board the Long Range Plan and a questionnaire to be edited by the Committee. The committee will give an update at the next Board meeting in February. The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. . . I \~ .I l' .. ~ ,) Ideas On Effeotiveness ouestionnaire Need to interpret by branch Base the questions on the AMPLE worksheets developed from the results of the Childers/Van House study Base the questions on the 31 most frequently cited indicators out of total 61 tested by the Childers research Offer a series of "yes" or IIno" questions with comment lines after each one for clarification. Categories of stakeholders (we probably wont be able to ask the demographics, because then anonymity would be impossible) but~e could just ask them to identify themselves as one of these groups: Survey at least 100 people for overall statistical accuracy; 400 would be optimum.
