Clearwater Library Board Long Range plan Committee
Meeting of January 26, 1995
Clearwater East Library
7:30 p.m. - 8:50 p.m.
Dr. Hallam gave background information on the Long Range Plan; then
reviewed the Public Library Effectiveness Study. Carolyn Moore
reviewed Ideas for Effectiveness Questionnaire (attached).
The following ideas for survey questions were discussed:
1) Get the impact of the Coop: are people using other
libraries? Where and why?
2) In the past year the Library has become state of the
art--Internet, Freenet, CD-ROM, etc. Do you use? Are you
aware of it?
.-'''"''-.10;,
l.~
3) Regarding various services: Are you aware of? Have
you used? Is the use convenient?
Mr. Bacon commented that people are most concerned about children
and children's services.
The Long Range plan was reviewed to see what things need to be
continued. The members discussed security systems and whether
there is a need for one.
The concensus of the committee was to edit and bring back to the
Library Board the Long Range Plan and a questionnaire to be edited
by the Committee. The committee will give an update at the next
Board meeting in February.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. .

Ideas On Effeotiveness ouestionnaire
Need to interpret by branch
Base the questions on the AMPLE worksheets developed from the
results of the Childers/Van House study
Base the questions on the 31 most frequently cited indicators out
of total 61 tested by the Childers research
Offer a series of "yes" or IIno" questions with comment lines after
each one for clarification.
Categories of stakeholders (we probably wont be able to ask the
demographics, because then anonymity would be impossible) but~e
could just ask them to identify themselves as one of these groups:
Survey at least 100 people for overall statistical accuracy; 400
would be optimum. Some of these stakeholders never use a library
but we still want their answers
Stakeholders:
Community Leaders and Local officials
Friends of the Library
Library Board
