Mr. Bacon attended a Coop meeting on October 18 and was welcomed.
He plans to attend the next Coop meeting on November 15. There was
discussion concerning nomination to the Coop Board. It was
suggested that the Library Board consider unanimously supporting
one nomination next year when two possible vacancies will exist.
If the Coop Board is expanded to nine members, more openings will
then be available. There was some discussion on the incorrect use
of Coop funds by the City of Largo and the Largo city Manager's
current move to try to change how state Aid can be used. The use
of LSCA money for building projects and the regulations associated
with such funding was discussed.
Dr. Berry asked if Clearwater's joining the Coop made a financial
impact on the smaller libraries. Dr. Hallam reported that the
total amount of appropriations is larger due to Clearwater's
membership, but that Largo, Pinellas Park, and Palm Harbor each
lost ~ small amount of their allocated funds.
The next meeting of the Board is scheduled for Friday, November 18.
With no further business, Dr. Raffaniello moved to adjourn the
meeting at 9: 50 a. m. The motion was seconded and approved
unanimously. MOTION CARRIES.
