Emily Banks Rita Collins Edith Follis Laura O'Neill Arthur O'Neill Chairman Pate Hutchens called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. The first order of business was discussion of the grounclbreaking for the new enst library to be held on Monday, ~Iay 7, 1984, at 3:00 p.m. Board members discussed plans for notifying the press. Donna Kelly, of the Library staff~ will \~ork on press coverage. It was suggested that all Board members participate in notifying civic and home owners' associations of the groundbreaking ceremony. Refreshments will be served at the ceremony. Mrs. Diller discussed having a member of the public participate by having a shovel along with the City officials. Mrs. Diller invited Board members to her home for a party following the groundbreaking ceremony. (Board members discussed the future of the Twig library. It \~as decided that no decisions would be made at this meeting concerning the \ Twig, since several Board members were absent. , Mrs. Mielke reported on Library Day, April 18th, in Tallahassee. Mrs. Mielke and Mrs. Maroon of the Library staff~ and Dr. and Mrs. David Berry attended. At this point in the meeting, Chairman Hutchens asked the guests attending what issue they wished to discuss. Eight representatives were present from Clearwoter Bench and Island Estates. Mr. Hutchens stated that the Library Board docs not discuss matters pertaining to administration or personnel of the Library. Mrs. Mielke declined to discuss matters pertaining to personnel, and stated she would check with the Personnel Department for the proper procedure to foUm.... ~lrs. Nancy Pappas asked to read a letter to the Board expressing concerns about matters at the Beach Branch Library. After Board members agreed it was "out of order" to discuss several of the issues addressed in the letter and by the 'guests attending, the Beach residents left the Board meeting. ' Board members discussed the Library'S weeding procedures and gift book donation policies_, Mrs. Pappas returned to the meeting to question the Library'S policy on memorial donations and gift books. the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m. Susan Doel, Secretary
