Mrs. Sollid and Mrs. Williams have been reappointed to new terms and Mr. Frank Barnicle has been appointed to the Board replacing Candace Gardner. Mr. Royer discussed the Proclamation for National Library Week presented at the City Commission meeting on April 7. Mrs. Mielke reported on the Friends of the Library's Annual Dinner which was attended by 150 persons. She also spoke on Library Day in Tallahassee on April 13. Mrs. Mielke mentioned the Library's request before the City Commission to purcha~e Mini-Marc, a minicomputer thot stores cataloging tapes from Library of Congress on floppy diskettes and prints catalog cards. Clearwater will be the only library in PinelIas County to have Mini-Marc and will be able to contract to sell catalog cards to other libraries in the area. Mrs. Mielke reported that overdue fines will also be raised to lOt per day for adult books and S~ per day for children's books to offset the cost of purchasing Mini-Marc. Mrs. Mielke distributed calendars for events during National Library Week, April 17-23. A Volunteer Appreciation Coffee is planned for April 17 at 10:00 a,m. in the Meeting Room to honor those volunteers who have helped the Clearwater Public Library. ~\rs. Mielke reported that the Community Housing Resource Board and the Board of Realtors for Clearwater-Largo-Dunedin gave the Library a grant to purchase materials for Fair Ilousing month, Mr. Royer reported on his appointment with City Manager Tony Shoemaker. CLEARWATER PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD Minutes of the Meeting April 15, 1983 Page 2 The Board discussed and took straw votes on the following'matters: 1. Use of malls or storefronts 2. Cooperative library program with schools 3. County involvement 4. Bookmobiles 5. Leasing buildings' 6. Two facilities or one Board members agreed to have a committee from the Board formulate a recommendation to the City Commission to be reviewed and revisions made by the Board members. The recommendation will be submitted to the City Commission in writing or presented at a Commission meeting if possible.
