Friends of the Clearwater Library Mrs. Jon Regulski, Friends of the Clearwater Library Mrs. Carolyn Moore, Library Staff In the absence of Chairman Homer Royer and Vice-Chairman Candace Gardner, Mrs. Mielke called the meeting to order at 9:40 a.m. Mrs. Mielke reported that Mr. Korosy has beerl.re-appointed to another three-yea~ term. Mrs. Mielke discussed the idea of the Clcarwater Library foundation. She reported that Mrs. Wickersham Located an attorney who is willing to work on this project at no charge. It was suggested to Mrs. Wickersham by a local fundraiser that both short-term and long-term goals should be established, such as 2-year and IO-year goals. ~trs. Regulski. also working on this project with Mrs. Wickersham, asked for the Board's views on the project. Discussion covered the fOllowing points: 1. Support from Library Board and community 2. Use of volunteers from the community 3. Administration of funds 4. Establishment of a foundation board s. State and federal rcquirements for tax purposes 6. Minimum dollar goal to start foundation 7. City approv~l of establishment of foundation 8. Receipt of donations to the foundation from other non-profit organizations (Chairman Homer Royer entered the meeting during the discussion of the foundation.) Board members agreed that Mrs. Wickersham and Mrs. Regulski should proceed with the foundation project. Mrs. ~tielke and Dr. Berry discussed the Arnholt Auction being sponsored by the Friends of the Clearwater Library on October 8 and 9, 1982, at the old Winn-Dixie site on Prospect Avenue. The Friends of thc Clearwater Library will receive 20~D of the gross sales from this auction which includes Indian artifacts and paintings. CLEARWATER PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD t.1inutes' of the ~tecting September 17, 1982 Page 2 Mrs. Mielke reported that Ms. Gardner would like to make a suggestion to change the Board meeting time to 4:00 p.m., as she is a school teacher, and cannot attend the 9:30 a.m. meetings. ~lrs. Gates made a motion that the Board maintain the present meeting day and time. The motion was scconded by Mrs. Williams. The vote was unanimous in favor of the motion. Mrs. Mielke noted that Mr. Shoemaker would attend a Boar~ moeting to discuss future referendums" buildings, or otheT matters.' Board members agreed to invite Mr. Shoemaker to the November meeting.
