MINUTES OF THE MEETING

the Clearwater Library
Chairman Homer Royer called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.
~tr. Royer reported that Mrs. Diller and Mrs. Wickersham were reappointed
for new three-year terms at the last City Commission meeting.
Mr. Royer asked for nominations for officers of the Board. Mr. Hutchens
nominated Homer Royer for Chairman, with the nomination seconded by
Mrs. Williams. ~fotion was made and seconded that nominations be closed.
Mr. Hutchens moved for a unanimous vote for Nr. Royer, with the motion
seconded by Mrs. Williams. ~frs. Williams nominated Candace Gardner for
Vice-Chairman, with the nomination seconded by ~lr. Harris. Motion was
made and seconded that nomination be closed. The Board agreed unanimously
on Ms. Gardner's nomination as Vice-Chairman. Susan Doel was asked to
serve as Secretary for another year.
~lr. Royer noted that bumper stickers for the community libraries
will be mounted on the toll booths at Sand Key and placed in bulletin boards
in Seville as a result of Mrs. Diller's efforts.
Mr. Royer reported that every Commissioner and candidate for the
Commission is in favor of the community libraries issue.
~fr. Nichols informed the Board that approximately 500 people have been
reached by speakers at various civic and service organization meetings.
Speakers have been very favorably received.

Ms. Brasfield and Ms. GaUcH reported on their success in distributing
bumper stickers and decals in the two high schools. Both students mentioned
contacting their school newspapers for coverage on the referendum.

Mrs. Mielke stated that articles will be appearing in the papers within
the next week.
The Board discussed various ideas to inform citizens about the referendum,
i.e. radio spots. telephone contacts. coverage in other area newspapers.
posting flyers in area businesses.
The time required to build the two community libraries if the referendum
passes was estimated by Board members to be 11 - 2 years. Board members
expressed optimistic feelings regarding the upcoming referendum for two
community libraries.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
