Rogers Mr. Homer Royer Mrs. Althea Andersen, Acting Librarian Mr. Mrs. Ann Wickersham, Mr. Matthew Moore Mrs. Norma Mann Mrs. Jan Regulski Guests Mrs. Nancy Zussy, Library Staff Hember Jeff Butler, Assistant City Manager Ms. Christina Cosdon, St. Petersburg Times Ms. Nancy Zussy summarized the three alternative proposals presented by Mudano Associates for main library construction on a phased basis. Of the three alternatives, Ms. Zussy stated that the first alternative, consis~ing of two new complete flQors constructed west of the existing building with no funds spent on renovation of the 1960 addition, would be the easiest for the library staff to work with, giving the largest amount of usable square footage. There was general discussion by the group present concerning the number of phases and the time schedule needed to complete the entire main library. Mr. Butler explained that this could not be predicted due to various reasons. Members of the Friends of the Library present expressed their concern that the library needs be met, and asked that all phases be presented .1,: ,Mr. Butler suggested that the group decide whether they support one of these alternatives so that Tony Shoemaker, City Manager, could present this to the City Commission in the next few weeks. A three part motion was made by Mr. Royer, stating: 1) That the group present supports the first altern~tive as the first phase of construction; 2) That the group asks for a resolution of intent on the part of the City Commission to complete additional phases of the library as funds can be made available and as soon as possible; 3) That the group asks the City Commission to instruct the architect to complete the plans and proceed with \ ,,' " . The motion was seconded by Mr. Elliott. Further discussion followed~ The motion passed with one abstention. There was discussion concerning the time period for completion of all phases of construction. It was suggested that the completion, should be within, a fiye year period.
