Reis' ",absence HI's. Garvey called the meeting to order. Mr. Tenney was not able to make the Library Board meeting due to the Commission meeting. Hs. Leah Englehart, a Clear..,1ater Senior High School, student, attended the meeting, having been appointed by the City Commission as an 'ex officio member of the Library Boar'd. The City Commission appointed memLeI's to various City boarus for younger viewpoint. There was discussion of the Library Trust Furid, being looked into by John Murray. Individuals could leave money, hopefully for Library construction. After talking with ,Jeff Butler, Assistant City Hanagel"', Nr. HurrClY reported that the proposal should come from th.e Board to the City Hanager stating purpose, etc. Hr. Hurray suggested the name of II City c: f ClearHateI'. Library Trust Fund", Hi th the PU1"pose of an opportunity for people to pledge support for the Library. There was general d~scussion with suggestions to set up a foundation without the City Commission's control over the use of the funds. Funds would not have to be limited to money, for example art collections, land, etc. If the trust fund could be set up according to City code and \,,i thout the Commission's control over fundo, it Has :3ugeested that the name might be Public Library Trust fund City of Clearwater. Rita Garvey will check the City code to see if this is pas sible.. 1-11". Royer mnde c'1 motion that the Library Board authorize John i'lurray and Cl committee to proceed t-Jith the formulation of i:l plan to present to the Board. Mr. Barre was concerned about the selection of books on the shelv~s at the new Twig. HI'S. Andersen explained that books are being transferred as quickly as possible from.~le l1ain Library to the T'-'lig, but felt that the response' to the new facility was good considering that"it has been open only six weeks. Mr. Royer suggested that statistics for the TvIig be reported to the net-lspapers. The official dedication for the Twig Hill be Harch 27., 1978, with a reception .from 6:00-7:00 PM and the dedication from 7:00-7:30. PM~ " A letter from Mr. Reis was read in response to the matter discussed in Commissioner Karleen DeBlakerts letter to the City Manager on Library Fa~ilities.
