Mr. Korosy proposed that the Board request ~hc City Commission to recogni7.c
Miss Sarah Byers' long and devoted service as Director of the Clearwater Public Library.
with a resolution and plaque. Such a motion was made by Hrs. Johnson, seconded by Mrs.
Hasbrouck and approved imanwnously. The Chairman \ofill contact the City Manager about
this. .
Payment from the Library Petty Cash Fund for the, expenses involved in the reception
on September 26 was approved.
Mr. Korosy spoke of the heed to revise the Board's By-lah's. Ur. MacDonald agreed
to serve as' chairman and \oIill call upon members us needed for help.
The following standing committees h'ith chairmen were set up:
PLANNING (long-range) - Patouillet, Reis '
PUBLICITY - Kerr
CHILDREN'S WORK - Patouillet
BOOKMOBILE SERVICE - Goss
In addition, there arc already two standing committees:
WICKMAN COLLECTION - I\orosy
HENRY COLLECTION - }oloore
Dr. MacDonald led a discussion and review ,of Part 1 - Summary of Observations
and Recommendations, especially pages 7-l2 of the recommendations: Several have been
accomplished; many arc in the process of accomplishment; a fc",' arc under study as to
the best methods of implementation.
There was discussion of the projects that the Director now has under way - weeding
the adult fiction collection, up-dating the reference collection, reorganization of staff
functions and particularly circulation and registration routines. The ~atters of foreign
literary works and paperbacks were discussed. ~trs. Patouil1ct will contact the International
Club for help in providing more foreign literary materials

voted to ask the C1ty of Clearwater to honor Sarah Byers for her
many. years of servicG to the City as Librtlry Director, with a
resolution, and a plaque. "le reel recognition should be given for
