The meeting, to discuss with the architect the proposed program for renova-
tion of the library building on Osceola, was called to order by Chairman Korosy in
the north conference room of the City Hall at 1:30 pm. There was a discussion of tho
program which had been distributed at the previous meeting, September 17, 1971. In
addition to wide-ranging discussions on the long-range plans for the entire system,
several specifics were questioned:
1) Mrs. Pollack inquired about provisions for audio-visual materials stor-
age and use.
2) Mrs. Patouillet pointed out the absence of any reference to young adult
services.
, 3) Mr. ~lcElmurray raised the question of planning for future growth, pointing
out that Clearwater's population for 1990 is projected at 80,000.
Mr. Hardaway indicated that the audio-visual materials could be cared for
in the micro-materials area and that, if the renovations \~ere flexible, the young
adults could be provided for in informal seating groupinns among the book stacks. The
final point of planning for expansion is really dependent upon additional in~ormation
that must be developed for a long-range library plan.
The program was approved for transmittal to the City Mana~er \'lith the under-
standing that it might well be necessary to revise it in the light of the engineering
studies of the existing building which will be made by the architect.
