The Clearwater Library Board met on Friday, June 20, 1969.
Members present were:
Coleman, Killeffcr, Macdonald, Moore. Byers and Akerman.
Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved, statistics distributed
for April and May. There was no unfinished business but the policy regarding
gifts was read to the new members. (April 1968)
Miss Byers talked about the budget for next year and said that salary increases
will bite into funds.
Drapes are being con$idered for windows to cut down on heat from the sun but
estimates are high. It may be wise to experiment with sun screening. A
complete paint job is to be done on exterior walls.
The chairman requested that statistics be sent to absent members along with
their copies of the minutes.
Miss Byers presented a copy of suggested supplementary capital acquisitions
\~hich will be given to the city commissioners. She termed this a springboard
which she hopes will be some help in considering future needs.
A few of the members met on April 4 to welcome Dr. Sessa who expressed his
willingness to answer any questions. He believes the trend of libraries are
to a central location. He said it was wise to continue branches but that
most cities put emphasis on a central library close to town. In his opinion
school and public libraries have not mixed well. He also said he believes
that senior citizens do not want their own library, and that collections are
