The Clearwater Library Board held its regular meeting August 23, 1968.
Members Present were:
Coleman, Williams. Killeffer. Byers and Akerman.
The minutes from last meeting were read and approved.
The board discussed problems affecting both branch libraries because of Clear-
water's expanding population. There is need for thought about continuing
growth. particularly in:the east section.
Mr. Killeffer made a motion that serious consideration be given to enlarging
the beach branch and a new or affiliated branch in the east. This motion passed
unanimously.
Mr. Killeffer brought a copy of a news story about the beach libr~ry and its
contents. This interesting article was sent to all of the boating publications
in the country.
Each member of the board recognized the fact of receiving a letter from the city
manager. Mr. Stierheim.
Miss Byers brought up the subject of raising the non-resident fee from two ($2)
to ten ($10) dollars. This motion passed unanimously.
Miss Byers spoke of an estate inheritance. a picture, a large reference bible
and Weisenberger volums, all of which have been given to the library.
She also called attention to the large chunk of grillwork which has fallen and
the fact that a barricade has been placed around it to avoid injury to any person
who happened to be below. .
