Clea~~ater Public Library
P. O. BOX 1328
Clearwater, Florida
Miss Sarah Byers, Director
The Clearwater Library Board met at the main library on May 17, 1963
at 1:30 P M.
Present were members:
Coleman, Killeffer, Byers. Williams and Akerman.
1. Dr. Coleman reported he had talked with ~Ir. Edmunds and that Mr. Edmunds
thought the basic idea was good as regards to finishing the lower level of
the library.. A search will have to be made to learn how the library is con-
structed. The initial contact has thus been made and will be pursued.
2. The 'situation with Mr. Brown, the city attorney, about setting up a fund
to accept donations has continued to stand still. Many memos have been made
by the city manager but no progress can be made and nothing done. It will
have to be handled through the mayor apparently. A generous check given by
Clark Mills can and will be used in another way if agreeable with him.
3. Since the sign has been installed, figures of circulation at the Beach
Branch Library have almost doubled which is most gratifying.
4. Discussion of Saturday afternoon closing for the summer was introduced
again and a motion was made calling for a June 15 closing and an opening about
September 7, 1963. The motion passed.

Mr. Killeffer asked about catalogues for books and the board discussed'
,
ways'of handling this situation but no decision was reached because of diffi-
culty in finding experienced part time help. ~fiss Byers asked that she be
given more time'to consider the matter.
The meeting adjourned at 3:30 PM.
