Clearwater Public Library
P. O. BOX 1328
Clearwater, Florida
Miss Sarah Byers, Director
The Clearwater Library met on February IS, 1963, at the main library.
Dr. Coleman opened the meeting with 'a short prayer. Present \~ere members:
Coleman, Fillewicz, Kil1effer, Byers, Weimer, Williams and Akerman.
Mr. Weimer reported that the sign for the beach library is ready and will
be shipped from Orlando Monday. It will be installed immediately.
Many of the students are taking advantage of the Saturday afternoon opening
and this new re~ime appears to be working successfully. Dr. Coleman has
personally observed the action of the students and noticed Miss Byers assist-
ing them in their studies. Many have spoken about her help and they appre-
eiate this extra attention which is most gratifying to the board.
The main part of furnishings for the lounge will be delivered Saturday, Feb-
ruary 16, leaving only small things to be acquired.
Miss Byers reported the new girls to be doing well but says it will take time
to make up for the loss of long time employees.
Mr. Brown's secretary promised Mr. Ki1leffer something definite by Wednesday,
concerning the setting up of funds. Mr. Killeffcr stated that he was trying
very hard to bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.
Miss Byers presented that statistics for January 1963.

There was a lengthy discussion as to the merits of a book-mobile which the
Junior Service League had been interested in some time ago. This did not
seem to be needed but since they want to help the board feels there are
\
other projects needing their help. Dr. Coleman spoke of the large unfin-
ished space beneath the main library and there were various expressions of
,
ideas as to what could be done with it. Many thoughts emerged from this open
discussion and so the board voted to have Dr. Coleman confer with Mrs. Edmunds,
president of the Junior Service League. There is hope that this conference
will lead to an estimate on cost of enclosing the area and laying a cement
floor. Also, practical suggestions as to type of enclosure and adequate light-
ing.
The meeting adjourned at 3:25. The next meeting will be held ~farch 15, 1963 at
1:30 PM.
