BOX 1328 Clearwater, Florida Miss Sarah Byers, Director The Clearwater Library Board met January 18, 1963 at 1:30 PM. Present were members: Coleman, Fillewicz, Killeffer, Weimer, Byers and Akerman. Miss Byers reported on the employee situation. One person is leaving and ,another may leave soon. Two people will start work Monday, they are June Stirco and Marie Dunlap. Both seem highly qualified and are well Recom- mended. A third is being processed. Mr. Weimer agreed to prod a little and try to hasten the installation of a sign for the beach library. Another sign has been placed in the lobby of the civic center. The board voted to send a letter to Mrs. Merrill G. Hastings, thanking her for the curtains recently installed at the north east branch library. Mrs. Hastings declined the offer of a plaque, saying she preferred the money be used for something else that was needed. Mr. Killeffer observed the excellent behavior of a group of students using this branch while he was visiting there recently. The Saturday afternoon opening has started and Miss Byers reports the students have signed up fairly well, but she mentioned the impossibility of getting all of them to sign. There were approximately 100 names the first Saturday and checking will continue. Furnishing the lounge progresses and at present they are working on prices of items. Some service organizations are assisting in the library, others have made inqui- ries about helping. The board decided to send a letter of thanks to the Junior Womens Club for the source material used in the communism course. Also, a letter of appreciation to Donald Magnus for the volumes given by him to ! the beach branch library. a April 25 and 26 is convention date and Library Week begins April 21.
