Miss Sarah Byers, Director
The Clearwater Library Board met at the main library on Movember 16, 1962.
Those present were: Dr. Coleman, Mrs. Filewicz. Mr. Killeffer, Miss Byers,
Mr. Williams and Mrs. Akennan.
There was a discussion concerning a fund to be set up for the Wickman Memo-
rial. To comply with the wishes of the city manager. the trusteeship will
be within the board itself. Mr. Killeffer was authorized to proceed with
this matter and asked arrangements to be made to include similar funds if
they should materialize. A motion was made to this affect and carried.

The Wickman ~Iemorial Plaque was installed at a dedication held at tho beach
library. There were about 35 people present besides Mrs. Wickman and her 2
sons. Among those were. Taver Bailey. Commissioner Fields and representa-
tives from the Power Squadron and the Coast Guard. There are about 365
volumes in this collection ~nd 20 or 30 volumes being added each week. Miss
Byers received the plaque from Mrs. Wickman.
Library hours had to be changed and a motion was made to ratify the hours
previously decided upon. They now are: from 9 to 8 five days a week and 9
to 12 on Saturday. The motion was unanimous.

Miss Byers presented a group of stastistics for August. September and October.
these figures showed that a small percent of transcients use the library,. Most
of the reading is done by the permanent residents.
Miss Christine Morris reports that teachers are using the North East Branch
Library themselves and also bring in children. Adults too. are showing great
interest in this new branch.
Miss Byers told some of her personnel problems and although she is already short-

handed. is losing one of her assistants.
A ~otion was made and car~ied. to furnish the staff lounge immediately using
$300 already budgeted for this purpose.
Since the last board rneetingJ the North East Branch was opened and dedicated on
September 22) 1962. The mayor. city commissioners and board members were present,
There will be a state library convention in April.
The next board meeting will be on December 21. 1962 at 1:30 PM.
