The Clearwater Library Board met at the new North East Branch on August 31,
1962 at 1:30 P. M. Those present were:
Reverend Coleman. Miss Byers. Mrs. Akerman. ~fiss Morris. Mr. Williams,
Mr. Killeffer.
Mr. Killeffer brought a proof of the new book plate for use in the Marine
Library. Publicity for this has started and books will corne in from many
places. A note of thanks has been sent to Russell Robinson for his excellent
design and art work on the book plate.
Mrs. Robert Butcher, president of Friends of the Library has been thanked
for paying the cost of printing the book plates. A case for rare books is
being built and some interesting additions have been made. Among these are
a course in navigation by the International Correspondence School, first of
its kind to be written. also, many years of yachting magazines.
The Coast Guard and Power Squadron are supplying up to date books and work is
progressing to have a brass plate or plaque depicting the Wickman boat. This
Marine Library will be of national importance and plans are for a formal
opening. The board hopes a fund can be set up and controlled by the city
attorney.
The board viewed the new library and after a personally conducted tour by Miss
Morris, librarian. voiced their approval. Various dates were offered for ded-
ication of this fine library,and finally it was set for Thursday, September 20.

at 8:00 P M. This meeting of August 31, takes the place of the re&41ar meeting
of August 17, which was postponed.
Mr. Killeffer suggested using a sign for the beach library with the same type
lettering that is on the front of the Civic Center. This is to be pIeaced on
the north side of the Center and reading:
Clearwater Public Library
Beach Branch
Miss Byers reported there had been no criticism on changing the closing hours of
the libraries.
The meeting was adjourned.
