The Library Board met on June 15, 1962. Those present were: Reverend Coleman,
City Manager Stewart, Miss Byers, Mrs. Akerman, Mr. Kil1effer and Mr. Williams.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved and it was unanimously agreed
that the social meeting with the employees was satisfactory and to continue
such a contact.
Mr. Killeffer reported progress on the marine library, stating that Russell
Robinson was working on a book plate design. Mrs. Wickman will submit a list of
books, there are 1,400 volumes or so on hand. Friends of the Library have
funds which are available for use if needed. 60 days should find this project
in good shape.
Mr. Stewart told the board that the budget time for the city has been changed to
October first instead of July.
Miss Byers reported the negroe library to be progressing slowly but should be
ready by fall. Plans will be made to insure sufficient publicity for the open-
ing before school starts.
Mrs. Sharp is alone at the beach library from 5:00 to 5:30, as the civic center
closes at 5:00. A motion was made by ~fr. Killeffer to change the closing hour
to conform with that of the center. Seconded by Mr. Williams as a recommendation
for approval by Mr. Stewart. The board will look into the matter of putting a

sign outside of the civic center at some strategic point to inform the public
of the location of the beach library.
A discussion was continued as to changing the closing hours of the city library
to Saturday afternoon instead of Wednesday. Mr. Williams made a motion to that
affect, Mrs. Akerman seconded it.

Miss Byers presented what she tenned a "wish list", consisting of things people
or organizations could donate if they wished.
The meeting was adjourned.
