A report from the AAUW was examined, regarding recommendations of that group.
Their suggestion of an advisory committee was discussed and tabled. Members of
the board plan to meet with those who signed the AAUW report and discuss it in
detail. The board also plans to invite some members of the group to attend the
October board meeting. This will give the board opportunity to study and discuss
the report further, ahead of time. .
Miss Kirkpatrick suggested the board and Miss Byers try to increase the
amount of fire insurance on the Library building and contents.
Miss Byers asked permission of the board to try to have an ordinance passed
to recover lost property. The board gave permission. She will consult the Tampa
Library for their experience in this matter.
Mr. Martens suggested that the accession books be put on microfil~ at the
cost of the film, which would be small. Work would be done at the City National
Bank.
The tentative library budget for the coming year was discussed, including
the cost of moving a building to be used for the Negro Branch Library. Miss Byers
outlined the salary raises she has requested. Motion was made by Mr. Baker, sec-
onded by Miss Kirkpatrick, that the board approve the library budget as here
presented. The motion was carried.
A representative of Clearwater Public Library will attend the meeting of
American Library Association in Miami, in June.
Upon Mr. ~fartens' motion, the meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
