Librarian then reported that the old kitchen chairs which the assistants had used
:.-1
so many years, had been replaced by four posture chairs, and the round stool at
the desk, by a steel desk chair, with back. A second-hand desk with drop top had
also been purchased, to which a typewriter, bought in May, could be attached. In
June a steel cabinet to hold hats and coats, etc. was bought from Sears at a cost
of $9.95. This is proving to be a great help, as shelving on one side is now
being used for office supplies.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Mrs. T. O. Owen, Librarian
Help is given in the selection of books.
Many questions are answered over the telephone.
Our reference books are in constant use, in all
departments.
Books covering all fields are in demand at all
times.
Over 100 magazines are received each month and
6 daily newspapers are taken.
In May we took stock, discarding worn-out books.
There were 21,402 books in the library:
Adult fiction ----------------- 8,819
Adult non-fiction-------------- 7,057
Juvenile fiction -------------- 2,648
Juvenile non-fiction----------- 1,813
Reference books --------------- 1,065
Total -------------------------
21,402
Since then we have added 1,308 books making a
total of 22,440 after discarding the 270 books.
Owing to the terribly crowded conditions, our
Reading Rooms are inadequate for the number of
patrons wishing to read, or consult the Reference
books.
Library is open 11 hours each ''leek day: -
9 A.M. to 8 P.M. except Thursdays: 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.
Saturdays: 9 A.M. to 9 P.M.
Staff comprises: Librarian and 4 assistants.
