Clea~iater Public Library
Clearwater, Florida
Dea.r Mrs. Owens,
Some time ago I talked \'lith you in view of getting a ,
part time position in the Clearwater Library. You, at that
time, asked me to write you stating my qualifications.
I graduated from Milford High School) Milford~ Conn
in 1932 (COllege preparatory course). I then attended the
New Haven State Normal Scl\ool for aln~st a yoar. I left
then because financial conditions would not allow my
continuing.
O)\e of my subj acts in Normal School was Library Technique.
Although I have never done work where I have had occassion
to use this system a little review of it would bring it back
to mind I know.
I \'1orked for a year and a half in a large circulating
library in Bridgeport, Conn. 111e library is a branch of the
\qalden Book Co. of NmoJ York City. Mr. Melvin Kafka is the
president of the company if you care to use him for a
reference. Our circulation was about eleven hundTcd, our
total stock about two thousand books.
I had a year of typing in High School and am now taking
a secretarial course at the Clean~ater Business School. ~~
subjects there arc: typing, shorthand, commercial 1m-I, book-
keeping and business spelling.
I have lived in Clearwater for the past six months and
plan to make my home here indefinitely. If at any time you
have an opening in the library I would appreciate your giving
me a trial.
Very truly yours,
Grace R. Mayers
