A regular meeting of the Library Board was held in the new Chamber of
Commerce rooms on Friday Jan. 25, '35.
Present. Mr. Bayly, Mr. Cornwell, Mr. Paxton with the president Mr. Bayly
presiding.
Minutes of the last meeting were read & approved.. Monthly Bills to date
from last meeting read and approved.
Librarian reported that the two new double book stacks had been installed
"
at a cost of $185.00. These were purchased from Remington Rand Inc., whose
prices were the lowest submitted & whose terma extended to ninety days. $50
,
was paid on receipt of these stacks. Moved & carried that $50 per mo. be
paid on these.
It was next reported that Book Week in November was again a success, being
carried out on different lines this year. Talks were made at all schools,
programs presented by the pupils on the subject of books, & at the end
librarian presented books to the grades having 100% membership in the library
by Friday of Book Week. Three prizes were awarded from funds donated for
this purpose.
It was next reported that the lights in the library were very poor & patrons
unable to read at night. Moved by Mr. Paxton, seconded by Mr. Cornwell that
librarian tryout different types of lights. Mr. Paxton offered two reflectors
which might help.

Sarah Byers and Margaret Boteler being reported to having received cut salaries
from the F.E.R.A.J the sum of $10 was given to each at Christmas. It was moved
and seconded that their sa.laries for the months of January, February, and March
be $25 each per month.
President then submitted ~lans which had been drawn up for an addition to the
library, funds for which were being applied for through the F.E.R.A) projects.
Some slight alterations were recommended before plans were turned over to the
City Manager, to be included with the other projects for the city.

My Dear Mrs. Aiken:
I regret very much to read in your letter to the Board of Directors,
of the Library of your resignation. I shall miss you personally
from the Board very much, as I feel that you are one of the old ties;
one of, the old connections.
I would personally like to ask you to reconsider, but, of course, I
know that you must have some good reason for submitting your resign-
ation.
I shall present your resignation to the next Board meeting and they
will advise you of their action.
