A meeting of the Library Board was held in the Board Room of the Chamber of Commerce, Wednesday, September 12. Those present: Rev. Cornwell, Mr. Paxton, Mr. Riddle, Mr. Bayly, pres- ident in the chair. The minutes of the last meeting read and approved. Letter read from Mr. Josiah K. Lilly re presentation to Library, Stephen Foster's works. Secretary instructed to write letter from the Board thanking Mr. Lilly for this fine gift. Gifts were reported from Mr. Weldon and Mr. Roebling, also from Y. W. C. A. The congested conditions of the library were discussed. The librarian was instructed to obtain prices on two stacks similar to those already installed. Proposed by Mr. Paxton, seconded by Mr. Riddle that the librarian be empowered to buy same from lowest figures sent in. Librarian reported that wooden shelves had been added during the summer, capable of holding 300 books; lumber being charged at cost, by Paxton Pavey CO'J and installed by the Fire Department, this costing the library only $6.75. Librarian next reported that Miss Ruth Boteler having left on September 1 to attend collegeJ her sister Margaret Boteler was filling place. Approved. The Board next took up the matter of salaries. It was moved and seconded that the Librarian1s salary be raised to $125, Miss Dorothy Grant's to $65, Miss Dorothea Garrison's to $60. per month \......./ tOCA!
