A meeting of the Library Board was held in the Chamber of Con~erce Board
room on Wednesday, Oct. 25th '32, 4 p,rn.
Present - President, Mr. Davis, Mrs. Aiken, Mr. Bayly, Mr. Cornwell, Mr.
Paxton. Mrs. Owen as Secretary. President in chair.
Mr. Bayly reported a special meeting held Monday, 16th Oct. When matter
of curtailing expenses in response to request by the city, was discussed.
Copy of a letter sent to Miss Moase, Librarian, was handed to secretary to
be placed in minutes.
Minutes of meeting held May 18th & librarians report to date, read & app-
roved.
Motion by Mr. Paxton, seconded by Mrs. Aiken that Mrs. Thea, O. Owen be
appointed Librarian. Carried unanimously. Librarian reported that some
of the High School students residing in nearby towns were deprived of use
of library owing to lack of funds.
Amendment to previous motion allowing use of Student Cards, proposed by
.
Mr. Bayly, seconded by Mr. Cornwell. That out of town students may have
Student Cards provided that they are endorsed by the teacher and only used
for furtherence of school work. Amendment carried.
Plaster of ceiling in Library was reported in a dangerous condition. After
some discussion, moved by Mr. Cornwell, seconded by Mr. Bayly that Mr. Paxton
see city manager about getting same attended to at once.
Proposal discussed at some length, as to the advisability of raising rental
fee from 3 to 5 cents per day but no action taken.

On recommendation of City ~fanager - moved by Mr. Paxton, ~econded by Mrs.
Aiken, that salary of Dorothea Garrison, a library assistant. be raised
from $10 per month to $25. ~fotion carried. to take affect as from Oct 1st.
As means of cutting overhead expenses & that the hourly work might be di-
vided better amongst staff, librarian suggested closing library at 8 p.m.
,
instead of 9 p,m. each evening, except Thursdays. when library would close
at 5 p.m., & Saturday, 9 p.m. the usual hour.
Recommended that these hours be tried for one mon~l.
Librarian was authorized to spend $10 for prizes for Book Week Poster Contest.
There being no further business, meeting adjourned.
