On Monday afternoon March 13th 1911, a number of ladies and Gentlemen
. met at the home of Mr. E. H. Jones to discuss informally the organization of
a library association in Clearwater.
It seemed to be the decided belief on the part of those present and on
the part of those who were prevented from attending, that Clearwater should
"
have a library and reading room and that the time was ripe for its organiza~
tion. The gathering wae not formally organized, but it unanimously directed
and authorized Mr. H. W. Bivins to appoint a committee of seven, of which he
was to be a member and its chairman, to formulate a plan of organization of
the Clearwater Library Association
this committee to act also as an Execu-::'.
tive Committee in the interim with full power to act in behalf and in place
of the permament organization, until that organization was perfected.
Mr. Bivins named the fOllowing as members of the committee and it was
called to meet at his office, l~ednesday, March 15th at 10 A. M.
