The.meeting was called to order by Chairman Batstone at 2:15 P.M.
So,that the applicant would.be properly informed, Mr.. Batstone.out-
lined the procedure of the'Board. Mr.o'Batstone then stated we,
understand this is a request by Mr. Metat Idrizi to build'a single
family 'residence at a floor elevation of 10 fleet rather than 'the
required 12 feet abovermean sea level.
-Mr. John Moore Schwalje, representing Marc Maconi Custom Homes and'
the prospective owner builder, Mr. Metat Idrizi., stated'that the
subject-lot was between two existing residences with floor elevations
of 5?? and 6 feet, By building the proposed residence at a 10 foot
elevation, the house would not create a drainage?probl.em nor be
aesthetically unpleasing. Mr. Logan stated that the lot was in the'
older section of Island Estates and sea walls are lower.. Also, most
of the residences were built at a much lower floor elevation than
the requested 101-011. Mr. Straub inquired if the owner.was aware of
the increase in an insurance premium?, Mr. Schwalje said Mr. Idrizi.
was informed he could not,get a mortgage without flood insurance so
he is aware of.this condition. There was further discussion, after
which - Mr. Logan made the following motion: "Upon consideration of the
appeal of Metat Idrizi from the decision o-L the Building Inspector
concerning the flood control elevation to lower the floor of-his house
from the, required twelve feet to ten feet at 510 Island Way, Lot 68.
It appearing after this duly constituted hearing that there are practical
difficulties and unnecessary hardships in carrying out the strict letter
of the provisions of the Flood Control Ordinance as it affects such
structure and that-the same can be,varied within the intent of the Flood'
Control Ordinance, I move that such appeal be'granted in accordance with
the application submitted herewith." Mr. Straub seconded the motion. .
Motion carried-unanimously.
Meeting adjourned at'2:110 P.M.
