He stated that the hotel would be of a luxury type and the rooms would resemble suites in that each wouild include a living room, bedroom,.kitchen. and bath area. He said that the center of the hotel (atrium) would be open to 'the elements and that the rooms would be built around a swimming pool and mall shopping area. Mr. Casella stated that there is no intention of the hotel using any of the property currently occupied by the Municipal.Tennis Courts. He also said that landscaping would be placed at the South side of. the ho~el, along Cleveland Street, as well as the West side. The first. floor of the hotel would be comprised of stores and other shops, mostly' . leased by local business people. ,\ , Mr. .Casella stated that Mr. Alpert has demonstrated ever,y willingness to 'cooperate with City staff in constructing a building that would take " . into' consideration the. environment and the park areas downtown. Howover, since the Sandoaatle and other hotels in that srea are no longer available for this , purpose, another structure is badly needed to anchor the downtown area. He Baid that tho proposed hotel would not be a convention faoility, but , that it would have a few meeting rooms that would accommodate 200 to 300 "people. He further stated that arrangements for delivery trucks were made by designing acoeBS for trucks into the sides of the building to eliminate any' unattractiveness or any eyesore when loading and unloading outside of the hotel. ," , ~ I. Mr. Oasella explained that the Parka and Recreation Doard was the ,first publio'board to review the drawings and that they would be shown at a'publio meeting of the Downtown Development Board on Wednesday.
