Avonuc on Monday, July 28, 1975 at 7:30 P.M. Present were
Mt. Dick Prokos, Chuirmun, Mrs. Uelen Taube and Messrs. Gus
Stavros, Henry McWhorter, Jr., Al Price, Dick Bell, Rev. Bob
Colomnn, Roam Wilson nnd Eddie C. Moore.

Motion was mude by Mrs. Taube and seconded by Mr. McW~orter
that minutes for the month of June when members met briefl~ at
Kingo Highway Center prior to visitation of recreation facili-
ties be approved. Motion carried.
The Board received copies of department reports for the
month of June and year-to-date.

Mr. Bell and Rev. Coleman discussed a proposal with the
Parks & Recreation Board whic.h expressed their interest in the
development of Moccasin Lake Park by the East Rotary Club of
Clearwater. After discussing this subject, Mr. Stavros moved
that a Parks & Recreation Board representative and an East
Rotary Club representative meet with City Manager Picot Floyd
to pursue the possibility of developing Moccasin Lake Park.
Motion was seconded by Mr. McWhorter and carried.
The Board was advised the overall Parks & Recreation bud-
get was 2.3% below norm for this ,time of year. However, summer
programs in recreation will increase expenses of the department.
Board members were presented copies of the budget as had been
directed to the City Manager. The Board discussed this 1975-76
budget and familiarized themselves with the contents.

Mr. Moore reported briefly on the following capital outlay
projects:

McMullen Park Tennis Courts have been completed and painted.,
The courts will not be used for several days on the advice of
the contractor. Lighting fixtures have been approved by the City
Commisaion,and it will take a few months before lights will be
installed. The clubhouse has been approved by the City Commission
and ground ~roken on the project. We expect to complete construc-
tion of the 'clubhouse in approximately five months.

Del Orc Tennis Courts have be~n completed and are now in play.
Lights are available and are clock operated with night participa-
tion available from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M. Due to heavy vandalism of
coin meters, we have utilized a clock which permits participation
during the above-mentioned hours without charge. The, St. Petersburg
Recreation Department has eliminated coin meters and utilizes clocks
on a free-time basis due to vandalism that has occurred on their
courts~ The multipurpose court has been completed and construction
continues on two handball courts, a tennis practicu wall and con-
crete bikeway, paths.

Ringo Highway - The building has been completed, but the
parking lot is Btill under construction.
Greenwood Complex shuffleboard courts and horseshoe courts
are soon to be constructed which will complete facilities at
this park.
Chesapeake Villas is being given consideration with regard
to possibility of providing swimming pool, multipurpose area,
playground appa~atus and ballfield. With the number of children
in this area, it is impe~ative we add recreational facilities
,and it is quite possible we may be able to utilize Community
Development Funds for such projects.

We have met with County School Board officials to discuss
rest rooms for Bobby Walker Pool. Prints have been drawn for
this project and upon approval by appropriate School Officials
the project should begin.

Repairs to Jack Russell Stadium, Lawn Bowling and Shuffle-
board canopies, and Armory floor have been approved, and a re-
quest to initiate these projects has been sent to the Building
D~partment. However, they have been quite busy with other pro-
,jects for our department at this time.
The Board was advised we have not hired a Golf Supervi~or
at this date, but we hope to do so within the next few days.

, Mr; Moore reported that Ron Garl, Golf Course Architect,
'w~ll visit us this Wednesday to discuss a probable golf course for
North East Clearwater.
The Board ,was advised the proposal for annual fees at Glen
Oaks Golf Course has been adopted by the City Commission effective
August 1, 1975.
A special meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 4, 1975,
at Kings Highway Center.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
