The regular monthly meeting of the Beautification Committee
was held in the Parks & Recreation Department offices, III North
Fort Harrison, Wednesday, A~l 3, 1974, ~t 9:15 am.
Present were Chairman, Albert P. Rogers; Messrs. Arthur Kruse,
Frank Schebler, Donald Alexander, Bob McMichael, Frank Marchiselli,
Russell Fourman, Larry Lord, Tom Shepard, Ream Wilson and Alan
Smith. Also present were Mrs. Mary Stieneker, Mrs. Juanita Ander-
son, and Miss Grace Smith. Mr. Gi1 Whitten, County Agricultural
Agent, attended the meeting at the request of committee Members.
It is hoped that Mr. Whitten will be able to assist in advising
on Beautification matters. Those not in attendance at this
~eetinq were Messrs. Forest Watson, Jr. and George Donatello.
Mr. Moore excused himself from the meeting as he was expected
at the City Manager's office.

Minutes of the March 6 meeting were approved as received this
date.
First item on the agenda for discussion was Edgewater Drive.
Max Battle, City Engineer, has completed reports and applications
for clearance from Tallahassee. The city has the green light
on this project.

there are legal difficulties.
Tree Give-~-Wav. Realtor's week will be the week of April
21-27, with Wednesday being Beautification Day. May 18 is the
date .of the Tree Give-A-Way Program. Distribution sites are:
"Clearwater, 901 North Saturn Avenue, the site of the new City
Nursery. Largo's site will again be their Recreation Department.
The saint Petersburg Times:is contributing approximately 1,600
trees. The 'City of Clearwater, approximately 1,500. The Clear-
water Garden Club will he assisting in giving out sheets on how
to care for trees.
Crest Lake. Torn Shepard has prepared material to submit
to Michael Paroby, Assistant City Manager. We are now awaiting
estimates from various Departments of the City.
. Docks/Benches. A survey has been made. Committee will
subrni t a list:. ~of what repairs are needed to Mr. Moore, Parks
& Recreation Director. $1,000 \has been committed towards
plantings and landscaping of Edgewater Park.

. Cuban Laurels. Six Cuban Laurels were planted around the
perimeter of city Hall with the remaining trees being placed
at the city Nursery for the present. The trees removed around
the immediate outside of City Hall have been replaced with
Florida Holly trees. .

Tree spade is now' back into use with the addition of a
trailer for transporting ten trees at a time rather than one.
