The meeting was called to order at 9:49 A.M.

Tom Pudelski moved to approve the minutes of the meeting of April S. 1989. The molion was
duly seconded by Glenn Perry and carried unanimously.
Glenn Perry read the name(s) of the following employee(s) to be accepted into membership in
the Pension Plan:

The Committee was advised that the procedure memo and revision to the guidelines are being
prepared for submission to the Trustees.

Nicholson asked about the status of the Committee's request to hire its own attorney since
Committee members feel they need to have neutral legal representation. Since neither
Laursen' nor Mr. Lance was present, the Committee requested that Mr. Laursen check into
maUer.

With respect to James Ford. Police Department, the Committee membcrs do not feel there is
sufficient evidence to substantiate Mr. Ford's claim that his disabiJity is job~connected.
, 'However,' they did not take any action and will give Mr. Ford until the meeting of May 17. 1989.
, to present documentation that will support his claim for a job-connected disability pension.
Regarding the upcoming election, the consensus of the Committee was to appoint
Carole Greiner as the chairman of the election committee. The Pension Advisory Committec
members have contacted the unions about appointment of representatives to serve with
Ms. Greiner. They will ask the Union prcsidents to contact Ms. Greiner directly.

Mr Pudelski again stressed the importance of the Committee having its own counsel.

Glenn Perry moved that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was duly seconded by
Tom Pudelski and carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 10: 13 A.M.

Mr. Nicholson questioned the reference made by Ron Rabun, Chy Mnnager, at the April 17,
1989. Trustc,es' mceting to other ahernlltivcs regarding employees over the age of 45.
Mr. Pudelskl stilted the City, Manager may have been referring to his Idea of offering some type
of pllln through ICMA. The Committee would Hkc the City Manager to attend hs next meeting ar
at least" respond in writing as to what these alternatives nre.
Mr. 'Nicholson advised the other Committee membcrs that hc will be giving n deposition on
Friday concerning the' suit that is pending against the City of Clearwater denting with the
'd~scrimination of employees who were over age 45 at the time of hire.
