Tom Pudelski moved to accept into membership the three (3) employees listed above. The
motion was duly seconded by Glenn Perry and carried unanimously.
Secretary Laursen submitted a revised proposal on the admittance of employees who were over
age 45 at the time of hire. Discussion ensued as to whether the Committee should approve these
procedures without all members present. Mr. Perry stated that John Nicholson. who was
absent, had seen the original proposal; nnd Mr. Perry felt there would be no problem with the
Committee approving this without Mr. Nicholson.
Tom Pudelski moved that the Committee adopt the procedure as submitted by Secretary Laursen.
The motion was duly seconded by Glenn Perry subject to the approval of the Legal Department
and Trustees. The motion was carried unanimously.
No action will be taken on James Ford umH the meeting of March 15, 1989.
Mr. Laursen advised the Committee that some questions were raised by the, Trustees and others
regarding the disability pension awarded to Peter Fire. Concerns were expressed as to whether
or not Mr. Fire actually was on duty when the injury occurred and. therefore, entitled to a
job-connected disability. Mr. Laursen was asked by the Trustees to check into this and report
back to them. A lengthy discussion ensued.
Mr. . Perry asked Miles Lance. Assistant City Attorney. whether he had an answer concerning
the five-year vested rights recently passed by the legislature and whether it pertains 10
~unicipa}jties. Mr. Lance will check into this and advise the Committee.
