The meeting was called to order at 10:02 A.M.
John Nicholson moved to approve the minutes of the meeting of May 18. 1988. The motion was duly
seconded by Charles Dunn and carried unanimously.
John Nicholson read the name(s) of the following cmployee(s) to be accepted into membership in
the Pension Plan:

Operator. Water Pollution Control Division, for a regular pension based
John Nicholson moved to grant a regular pcnslon to Anton D. Grandic.
seconded by Charles Dunn and carried unanimously.
The Committee considered the request of Hobert Douglas, Utilities Service Technician 11, Gas
Division, for a regular pension based on years of service. John Nicholson moved to grant a
regular pension to Hobert Douglas. The motion was duly seconded by Charles' Dunn and carried
unanimously.
The Committee considcred thc request of Gilbert L. Poinsett, Sanitation Equipment Operator,
Sanitation Division, for a regular pcnsion bascd on years of service. John Nicholson moved to
grant a regular pension to Gilbert L. Poinsett. The motion was duly seconded by Charles Dunn and
carried unanimously.
The Committce considered the request of John H. McNeilly, Police Sergeant, Police Department.
for a regular pension based on years of service:. John Nicholson moved to grant a regular pension
to John H.McN~i1ly. The motion was duly seconded by Charles Dunn and carried unanimously.

The Committee considered the request of Danny Alley, Water Distribution Service Worker II.
Water Division. for a job~connected disabiJity pension. Discussion ensued regarding Mr. Alley's
current status. Nancy Degner, City Nurse. informed the Committee that Mr. Alley has been
released to return to work with restrictions. The question was raised as to whether or not Mr.
, Alley could perform another job. Secretary Laursen stated according to the Pension Plan, if an
employee is disabled from perfonning his/hcr job, he/she is entitled to a disability pension. The
,maUer was continued until it can be reviewed more thoroughly.
, John Nicholson was dissatisfied with the letter from Dr. Schwab because it did not indicate exactly
what the disability is but only that Mr. Alley is totally and permanently disabled. Mr. Nicholson
questioned the on-the-job injury which Mr. Alley suffered in 1979 which was referred to by
Dr. Gustke is his letter. The Notice of Injury for this was not contained in the packet submitted.

The Committee considered the request of Sherrill Wargin, widow of WUliam D. Wargin, Police
'Officer, Police Department, for a non-jab-connected disability pension. There is a minor child
born in 1975. John Nicholson moved to grant a non-job~connected ,disability (widow's) pension to
Sherrill Wargin on behalf of William D. Wargin. The motion was duiy seconded by Charles Dunn
and carried unanimously.
John Nicholson reported the Finance Department has interviewed new actuaries.
Discussion ensued regarding a new government regulation which outlines nine methods to be
'used for funding projects and provides one method for reporting them. This is known as
(Government Accounting Standards Board) GASB #5.
