The, meeting' was called to order at 9:30 A.M.

Michael Stuan moved to approve the minutes of the meeting of November 3D, 1987. The
motion was duly seconded by John Nicholson and carried unanimously.
No new information has been received on John Welch. The Committee is still waiting for
word from Cary Singletary, attorney for Mr. Welch, before taking further action.
Chairman, Dunn spoke with Frederick Woodard, Firefightcr, and is working with him to
get the appropriate letters from the doctors.
The Committee considered the request of Samuel McBride, Tradesworker 11, Public
Service, for a job-connected disability pension. Chairman Dunn spoke with Dr.' Logue who
informed him Mr. McBride has a definite back problem. Discussion ensued. John Nicholson
advised Mr. McBride that in the event he has surgery :md his problem improves, he may be
'c'alled back to work. Mr. McBride understood this.
, lolut, Nicholson moved to approve Samuel McBride's request for a job-connected disability
: pension'. The motion was duly seconded by Michael Stuart and carried unanimously.
With regard to John Ferzola, Firefighler, his attorney presented to the Committee a letter
from Dr. Ferderigos who performed an independcllt medical examination on Mr. Fcrzola at
the Committee's request. The Committee members expressed some concern with thc
vagueness of the letter. Chairman Dunn will speak with Dr. Fcrdcrigos on December 21,
1987, for clarification of his letter.

With regard to William Wldner, Firefighter, Jim Centi1li, President of. thc firefighters'
union ,(IAFF) questioned the inconsistencies in the memorandum from the Risk Manager
and' the letter from Dr. D'Costa. John Nicholson concurred with this observation.
~or the record, John Nicholson moved that the Pension Advisory Committee reaffirms its
position in this, matter and finds Dr. D'Costa's lcttcr without merit. The motion was duly
seconded by Charles Dunn. John Nicholson and Charles Dunn votcd Haye;" Michael Stuart

abstained. The motion carried.

Nelson' B. Coy. Oas Division. who resigned and withdrew his pension contributions requested
to be allowed to buy back his years of service and be reinstDted to the Pension Plan. The
Committee advised him it was their opinion this could not be done but he could take his
request to the Trustees. However, he can be reinstated to the Pension Plan as of his, date of
re-employment subject to his passing the required physico!.
Jhn, Centilli asked the Committee to move expeditiously on John Ferzoln since his benefits
" will. soan run out and he will be without pay. Mr. CcntlJl questioned why Mr. Dunn could
not contact the doctor ,today rather than on December 21 st. Chairm an Dunn advised him
, that' ,It was not really his responslblity but thllt of Mr. Fcrzola to provide the proper
documentation.
