John Nicholson moved to approve the mlnutos of tllo moollng of April 28, 1987. The mollon was duly seconded by Charlie Dunn and carried unanimously. "~ I ~, , J'" , ~i , ,. c. l:::, " j, The Chairman Dunn asked whether any new Information has been received on Robert Noonan. He was advised nothing was received. Things will stay the same unlll the documentation (s received. Frederick Woodard submitted a request to the Committee for a non-Job.connected disability pension. He will be notified that he needs leuers from two orthopedic doctors before the Committee can consider the request. Discussion ensued regarding the recent Pension Trustees meeting and the decision made by the Trustees to allow the attorney Involved '0 submlt more documentation concerning Walter Kosiba and John Welch. Charles Dunn and John Nicholson vehemenlly slated their objections to the Trustees reversing the decision made by the Pension Advisory Comml"ee in enher case. , MUss Lance, Assistant City Attorney, and Secretary Laursen advised the Committee that the Trustees may not necessarily overturn the Committee's decision. The Trustees are taking the posltlon that they need more time 'to review the material presented to them In that they only receive the Information on Friday and are expected to make a decision on Monday morning. Therefore, they postponed making a decision until their next meeting (In two weeks). In the meantime, they granted Walter Kosiba and John Welch a non-job-connected disability until such time as they make a final decision. Charles Dunn expressed concern that they took this action when he had been Informed previously the City Manager said they could not grant a non-job-connected disability pension while further revewlng whether It should be job-connected. David Krieger arrived at 9:47 A.M. , , ::) "..-, Charles Dunn stated It Is his opinion that the Pension Advisory Committee should be made up of five people, :;,,~,'..J Including someone from the Trustees and someone from outside. The PensIon Ad"'sory Committee members stated their f.",""': ' opinions that, Judge Driver's ruling In the Krysko case appllos to an cases that como before the Committee. It l;; ~ '. Miles Lance and Secrotary Laursen stated these two cases (Kosiba and Welch) may be the ones to be litigated In order to change this law.
