Chairman Zukowski called meeting to order.
There were no pension physicals' to approve as these are being held until the Committee
has receiverr the actual physical form instead of a form letter approving or disapproving
the employee' for pension.
Chairman, advised the Committee he had received a request from Malcolm Whitehouse, Sani-
tation Div.ision, for retirement pension., He has been with the City for 23 years and is
over the age of 55. Jay Love moved that Mr. Whitehouse be granted retirement pension.
Seconded by" Charles Dunn and' motion carried unanimously.
Chairman stated he had received a request for job connected disability pension for
Robert Noonan. Chairman Zukowski asked Mr. Noonan to explain to the Committee the
accident he had in 1968 while an employee of Montgomery Ward. Chairman advised the
Committee that he had letters from three doctors - Dr. Kelly, Dr. Sullivan, and Dr. Nach.
Dr. Kelly stated that according to the patient this all started when he was involved in
an accident at work on 4-29-82. He had a repeat injury to his back in 1984 which tended
to aggravate his cond~tion. Patient has not responded to therapy and Dr. Kelly feels
he will continue to have chronic neck and back pains. Dr. Sullivan's letter related
that he did not believe Mr. Noonan had a herniated die but had an inflammation of the
back and neck muscles., Dr. Nach I,S letter stated the patient has reached maximum medical
improvement for his March 8, 1984 injury and' has no permanent partial impairment
according to AMA guiqalines for permanent impairment,
Chairman Zukowski stated' that in reading the doctors' letters it did not seem as though
there w.oul,d be permanent impairment., He then"asked Mr. Noonan if he would be willing to
go back to work and' asked Terry Neenan, Superv.isor of the Gas Division and Cecil Henderson,
Utilities Director. if they would be willing to put Mr. Noonan back to work. Mr. Noonan
said he would be ~illing to try to work and Mr. Neenan agreed to his coming back to work
on a day shift 8::00 A.,M. - 4:'30 P.M.
Charles Dunn stated he would like Mr. Noonan to think about his condition and about what
'the City has offered him and and what he would like to do.
Charles Dunn moved that Mr. Noonan's request for disability pension be tabled until the
next meeting. Seconded by Jay Love and motion carried.
Carole Greiner advised the Committee that Mr. Whitehouse had not filled out all t~e
necessary papers for his retirement, and that i~ might be a good idea to send out a memo
to departments to help employees in filling out the necessary retirement papers.
Carole Greiner brought up the fact that it was time to get ready for the Pension election.
Two members, Claude Zukowski and Jay Love are finishing their terms. She has checked
