Motion seconded by Jay Love and carried.
Charles Dunn asked about pension for Monte Krysko. Chairman Zukowski advised him
that the Committee luid recommended a job connected disability pension and the City
Commission changed it from job connected to naIl-job connected. The matter then went
to Court and the Court said the Pension Advisory Committee had the full say and the
City is now appealing that decision. Chairman Zukowski advised members that the
Commission appeal stays the process as it was before.
Charles Dunn stated he felt the Committee was useless and he would not run again to be
a member of the Committee. Claude Zukowski stated the Committee needs a check and balance
system as in any other form of government.
Charles Dunn stated he could not see why the Pension Plan does not have a cost of living
clause. Chairman Zukowski advised Committee that according to the Meidinger study
if a cost of living clause is put into the Pension Plan, the employees' deductions
would have to be doubled and 80 would the City's.
The only way changes can by made is by referendum. The Finance Department is looking
at it and Committee is to start working on a referendum for 1986. (February). It will
be primarily administrative with no changes of benefits - just trying to get the wording
straightened out. The Committee is to try to re-word.the Ordinance so that. everyone
can.under~tand 1t~ .
