07/03/1980 \, ' Pension Advisory Committee Meeting / July 3, 1980 Betty Ward moved that the Pension Trustees accept the following employees, who are under 45 years of age and have passed a comprehensive physical examination, into the Pension Plan. Operator I Betty Ward moved that Bradford Smith, Maintenance Worker I, Parks & Recreation Department, be rejected for pension in accordance with recommendation of the doctor. I Proceedings of the Pension Advisory Committee Meeting held July 3, 1980. Present: Ray Kaminskas, Chairman Betty Ward, Member Joyce Bayerle, City Nurse Mike Laursen) Personnel Director Chairman Kaminskas called meeting to order. Betty Ward moved the Minutes of meeting of June 4, 1980 be approved after correction of spelling of Craig Gieseke's name. Seconded by Ray Kaminskas and motion carried. Betty Ward moved that Dorothy Smith, Traffic Enforcement Officer, Police Department, be approved for non-job connected disability pension. The effective date of this pension is to be determined according to the computations made by the Personnel Department. Seconded by Ray Kaminskas and motion carried. Betty Ward moved that Norman Stickney, Serviceman II, Utilities Department, get another doctor's opinion and that the case be reviewed by our City physician. (Nurse to make the appointment.) Mr. Stickney also must show proper paperwork to indicate disability injury on the job. Motion seconded by Ray Kaminskas Bnd carried. Betty Ward moved that the Committee approve retirement pension for Arnold Gainous Sanitation Driver II, and that the effective date of his retirement be changed back to June 23 from August 4, since this is the day he resigned. (These dates are in accordance with Personnel Department computations.) Seconded by Ray Kaminskas and motion carried. Chairman Kaminskas reported on Craig Gieseke. His retirement date is June 27, 1980 according to the City Attorney. This is not the sign-off date from Workman's Compensation according to telephone conversation but written confirmation has not been received. Mr. Weimer will get in touch with Hewitt & Associates to get the matter settled. , " Chairman reported an Wesley Brettel. July 30, 1980 is the date Workman's Compensation payments will be paid in full and his pension is to start from this date. Chairman reported on Johnny Trautwein. Workman's compensation was paid in full 2-16-80. ~here is a question as to whether he should receive pay back to that date. Mr. Weimer will discuss with Mr. Bustin. Ghairm.~n Kamiuskas read letter from City Manager asking that employees be advised of upcoming action to be taken by the City Commission when it regards the employee's personal penston interests. It was decided by the C~rnmittce that the cover sheet for the Commission would serve as adequate notice for the employee of upcoming action to be, taken reference his/her pension. Also discussed was the situation where the City Commission, acting, as Trustees of the City Employees' Pension Plan, disagree with the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. In this situation, the Committee would like the Commission to table the matter until the next meeting and request the presence of the Pension Advisory Committee to give reasons for the recommendation. '.f, Mr. Weimer reported on Karen Wilson. City Nurse is to attempt to get another doctor. MS. Wilson would like for this doctor to use xrays she already has in his evaluation, plus any xrays he may take.
