Proceedings of the Pension Advisory Committee meeting held Fobruary 7, 1978.
Present: Betty Ward, Chairman
Ray Kaminskas, Member

Meeting commenced at 9:15 A.M. in the office of the Personnel Director.
Pension Advisory Committee recommended that the Trustees accept the following employees
into the Pension Plan:

Pension Advisory Committee, based on the doctor's recommendation, recommended to the
Trustees that Philip Roberson, Maintenance Worker I, Parks & Recreation Department
not be accepted into the Pension Plan.
Pension Advisory Committee discussed retirement computations received on Mildred McGee,
Paul Lindsey and George Fillius. Mr. Lindsey and Mr. Fillius are not covered under
peosion and no action will be required by the Committee. MS. McGee will actually work
until 5-l8-78 and use vacation and sick leave to carry her retirement date to 2-1-79.
Personnel Director is to wvite to her suggesting she formally request retirement.
After review by the Pension Advisory Committee of Mr. Ralph Brock's request for
pension, letters from two physicians and memo from his Department Director,
Ray Kaminskas moved that Ralph Brock be retired under non-job connected disability
provisioos of the Pension Plao. Seconded by Wesley Brettel and motion carried
unanimously.
Pension Advisory Committee reviewed letter from Ruth Weglarz requesting pension re-
consideration. Ray Karoinskas moved that Ruth Weglarz be advised that she should have
another physical with Dr. Rag~. at her own expense, after which the Pension Advisory
, Committee will review the doctor's recommendation. Seconded by Wesley Brettel and
motion passed unanimously.
Committee reviewed situation relative to pension repay needs of John Resnik and
Stephen Zimmerman. ~error in Finance resulted in Mr. Resnik being removed from
social security coverage July 8, 1977 without his corresponding placement on pension
until"12-23-77. Finance sent a memo to Mr. Resnik asking him to indicate a repayment
amount but he ha~, indicated he doesn't want to pay the amount ($376.93) back.
Mr....Zimmerman took a leave of absence, leaving his pension monies with the City, but
does' not want to'pay approximately $400 needed to continue his penaion without break.
He has asked for an adjusted date of employment and to begin pension at that time.

,Committee invited Margie tapp, Accountant io payroll to relate to the Committee wh,n
pension is being deducted from new employees and to explain why some employees have a
lapse period where pension was not deducted. MS. Tapp eKplained that after the pension
referendum, but before the City adopted a procedure for beginning pension deductions
on the first day of employment, they had no authorization providing for deduction~
'~':,', For a period of 4 to 5 months pension monies were n~t deducted. Committee decided to
suggest,no action at this time, feeling/it would be more appropriate to wait for the
CourtIB~uling'on the referendum.

March 2, 1978 at 9:00 A.M.
