Members discussed the wording on the letter prepared by Personnel Director for the
Pension Advisory Committee to sign and forward to the Trustees recommending employeets

letter be amended in the second, paragraph to read as follows:
liThe above employee began his/her service with the City of Clearwater on
, is under 45 years.of age (date of birth )
is a full-time City employee and meets all other requirements of our Employee's
Pension Plan."
The above change (providing an.additional phrase relating to full-time status) was
requested because an employee of the Parks & Recreation Department', Phyllis Hernandez,
who works 40 hours per week as a Beach Guard, is categorized under Civil Service
classification as a Permanent Part-Time employee and was mistakenly placed under
the Pension Plan. The Pension Advisory Committee requested that the Personnel Director
write Phyllis Hernandez and tell her that her placement in the Pension Plan was in
error and would be changed, and to request Finance to cease pension deductions aod
refund her contributions. The Pension Advisory Committee requested that a letter be
written to Mr. Bustin, City Attorney regarding the legal ramifications where employees
catagorized as PPT regularly work full-time.
The Pension Advisory Committee, after being advised that Dr. Hagan's recommendation
on Edward Miller was predicated upon Mr. Miller's diabetic condition for many years,
concurred with the Doctor and recommended that Mr. Miller not be accepted into the
Pension Plan.
