The Advisory Committee, after review of the physical examination forms, recommended
that the follOWing employees not be accepted into the City Pension Plan for the
reasons noted:
Robert Jarrell
Gregory Goodwin
Wayman Spencer
- kidney stones and blood pressure
back problems
heart condition
Betty Ward brought up the subject of the return of Charles Edwards, Police Officer,
from Military Leave and what his status under the Pension Plan would be. Committee
felt that the Pension Law specifically provides that time during authorized military
leave does count for Pension purposes and that no contributions are required from
the employee during that time. Betty Ward will prepare a memo to -the Payroll Clerk
from the Advisory Committee advising Mr. Edwards should have pension deductions
commence at the time he is returned to the active payroll.
Betty Ward brought up the subject of employees who begin as part time and subsequently
become full-time (specifically mentioning Tom Walker who began as a part-time Police
Cadet and, later became a full-time Police Officer). The Committee felt that employees
should receive no credit for part-time employment towards eligibility for acceptance
into the Pension Plan and that no paYloent should be required for that time. Committee
recognized that many questions such as this will be forthcoming due to the recent
distribution of notices to employees regarding having the option to pay pension
contributions equal to what they would have paid during their initial six months
employment had such been permitted when they were originally employed.
The:re being no furthe:r business, meeting adjourned.
