'," Civil Service Board Meeting held January 28, 1981 / ,I / ; The Civil Service Board met in special session on January 28, 1981. Chairman W,ilder called meeting to order and stated if there were no additions or-' corrections to the Minutes, they would stand approved. Chairman congratulated Mr. Chenoweth on his re-appointment to the Civil Service Board for three years. . Mrs. Herman moved that Mrs. Wilder be re-appointed Chainnan for the year 1981. Seconded by Mr. Chenoweth and motion carried unanimously. Discussion was held on the Hearing Officer's report on Cleven Wyatt. Mr. Finch stated Harbuck was the aggressor and he did not feel that I~yatt should have any time off from work.' Mary Kane agreed with Mr. Finch and did not feel Wyatt should have been dismissed. Mrs. Herman stated she felt there was fault on both sides and why was there no disciplinary action taken against Harbuck. Mrs. Wilder stated she felt that dismissal was too severe a penalty. Mr. Chenoweth moved that the Board approve Hearing Officer's recommendation. Seconded by Mrs. Henman. Motion failed because of lack of majority. (For the motion, Chenoweth- against the motion, Wilder, Herman, Kane and Finch.) Mr. Finch moved that Cleven Wyatt receive no suspension. Seconded by Mary Kane. Motion failed on two affirmative votes (Kane, Finch) and 3 negative votes (Herman, Wilder, and Chenoweth). Mrs. Herman moved that a recommendation be made to the City Manager that Mr. Wyatt be given a 5-d~ suspension. Seconded by Mr. Chenoweth~and motion carried 3-2. (Affirmative, Herman, Chenoweth, Wilder; negative, Kane, Finch.) Mrs. Bobby Garretson (Citizens to be heard) asked why Bobby Garretson was not interviewed for Water Supply Operator. After discussion, Mr. Finch moved that a recommendation be made to the City Manager that Bobby Garretson be interviewed for the position of Water Supply Opel~tor. Seconded by Mr. Chenoweth and motion carried. ' Mary Kane asked Mr. Griesinger whether or not the Board had the power to request an investigation of a department. Mr. Griesinger said the Board did have that power. Mrs. Herman asked that the Chairman notify members of any case to be heard by a Hearing Officer. She and some of the Board Members would like to attend these . hearings. Mr. Chenoweth moved that the meeting be adjourned. Approved Chainnan
