Members present: Armand J. Falzone, William A. Ramsey, Cal Blackstone, Cliff Stephens and Arlie Schardt. Visitors: Gerald Weimer, Asst. City Manager, Ed Blanton, Building Director Bill Stopher, Utilities Director and John Selover, Sanitation Superintendent. Mr. Blackstone moved that the minutes of the meeting of April 10, 1972 be approved. Seconded by Mr. Stephens. Motion carried. Director reported on certifications and appointments. , ' Director reported on assenbled examinations conducted. Director reported on lay-offs, suspensions and dismissals. No Board action ~ecessary. Mr. Schardt moved that the resignations of Harry K. Wilson, Plumbing Inspector, Building Department, Barbara Horak, Clerk~Typist I, Purchasing Division, City Manager Department, Walter R. Klein, Draftsman II, Engineering Divisiont Public Works Department, Charles M. Grimes, Mechanic I, Garage Division, Public Works Department, Georgianna N. Rios, Clerk-Typist II, Finance Department, Edger J. Pritchard, Asst. Fire Apparatus & Equipment Mechanic, Fire Department, David Hopkins, Theodore Barber, William Williams, William Frei.tal, Thorn J. Grady, Laborers, Parks & Recreation Department, Frank Lunn, Recreation Assistant, Parks & Recreation Department, Samuel McClellandt Jailer, Police Department, Raymond Cole, Freddie L. Mr. Stephens moved that the Board ratify the Director's action in establishing two additional positions of Mechanic II, Range 46t Salary $248 bi-weekly in the Garage Division and abolishing two positions of Mechanic I, Range 36, Salary $195 bi-weekly in the Garage Division. Seconded by Mr. Ramsey. Motion carried. 2. Mr. Schardt moved that the Board approve request from Keith Crawford, Traffic Engineer, for extension of Emergency Appointment of Alan R. Stanford, Electrician-Lineman II, for an additional sixty days. Seconded by Mr. Ste~hens and motion carried. 3. Seconded by Mr. Schardt. Motion carried. 4. Mr. Ramsey moved that the Board approve request from City Manager to establish one additional position of Traffic Serviceman, Range 38, Salary $205 bi-weekly in the Traffic Engineering Department and abolish one position of Maintenance Tradesworker I, Range 38, Salary $205 hi-weekly in tllC Traffic Engineering Department. Secondeu by Mr. Stephens. Motion carried. ' 5. Mr. Stephens moved that the Board approve recommendation of Director that Mr. Ed\Wyman be deemed eligible for his first vacation one year from the date of his appointment as a Bridge Operator. Seconded by Mr. Schardt and motion carried. Mr. Schardt moved, Mr. Stephens seconded, and motion carried that the following requests 6 - 15 from the City Manager he approved: 6. Abolish the classification of Electrical Inspector and four positions therein and establish a new classification of Electrical Inspector II, Range 57, Salary $325 bi-weekly with an initial complement of one position therein. 7. Establish a new classification of Electrical Inspector It Range 54, Salary $302 b~-weekly with an initial complement of three positions therein. 8. Abolish the classification of Plumbing Inspector and two positions therein and establish a new classification of Plumbing Inspector II, Range 57, Salary $325 hi-weekly with an initial complement of one position therein. 9. Establish a new classification of Plumbing Inspector I, Range 54, Salary $302 hi-weekly with an initial complement of one position therci,n. 10. Abolish the classification of Building Inspector and two positions therein and establish a new classification of Building Inspector II, Range 57, Salary $325 bi-weekly with an initial complement of one position therein. 11. Establish a 'new classification of Sanitation Driver I, Range 38t Salary $205 bi-weekly with a complement of 15 positions therein. Seconded by Mi". Ramsey and motion carried. Mr. Blackstone moved that the Board approve Director's recommendation to give a practical driving test to all Sanitation Drivers with the addendum that an additional written examination be derived to differentiate between the two levels of Sanitation Drivers. Seconded by Mr. Stephens. Motion carried. Mr. Blackstone moved that the Board approve recommendation of Director that all existR ,ing Buildingt Electric, Gas and Plumbing Inspectors be considered as eligible for either of the newly created classifications or Inspector I and Inspec'tor II in their respective inspections category because they have previously passed an examination based on the requir~nent of a Master's certificate or equivalent. Seconded by Mr~ Ramsey. Motion carried. Mr. Schardt moved that the Board approve request from Susan Straughan, formerly Clerk~Typist It Library Department to withdraw her resignation and he placed on the Eligibility List for Clerk-TYpist I.
