The Clearwater Civil Service Board met in regular session Monday evening)
February 14, 1972 in the Civil Service office at City Hall.
Members present: Armand J. Falzone, William A. Ramsey, Cal Blackstone)

Chairman Falzone called meeting to order.
Mr. Schardt moved the minutes of the meeting of January 10) 1972 be adopted.
Seconded by Mr. Stephens and motion carried.
Director reported on certifications and appointments.
Director reported on assembled examinations conducted.
Director reported on lay-offs) suspensions and dismissals. No Board action necessary.

February 14, 1972
1. Mr. Ramsey moved that the Board ratify Director's action in approving the
following additional new positions:
1 Communications Clerk I, Range 36, Salary $195 bi-weekly in Garage Division
9 Police Patrolman, Range 50, Salary $273 bi-weekly in the Police Department
1 Recreation Supervisor 1, Range 43, Salary $231 bi-weekly in the Parks &
Recreation Department
1 Recreation Leader (PPT), Salary $2.19 per hour, Parks & Recreation Department
1 Draftsman II, Range 47, Salary $254 bi-weekly in the Engineering Division
1 - Party Chief, Range 47, Salary $254 bi-weekly in the Engineering Division
2 - Instrument Man, Range 41, Salary $220 bi-weekly in the Engineering Division
2 Laborers, Range 31, Salary $173 hi-weekly in the Bldg. Maintenance Division
Motion seconded by Mr. Stephens and carried.
2-3. Mr. Schardt moved that one of the presently allowed established positions of
captain in the Fire Department be abolished and that in lieu thereof a new
classification of Asst. Fire Chief, Range 64, Salary $386 bi-weekly be V"
established in the Fire Department. Seconded by Mr. Blackstone. Motion
carried.
4. It was moved by Mr. Stephens, seconded by Mr. Blackstone and motion carried
that the Board ratify Director's action in approving extension of Emergency
Appointments for the following:
John Stafford, Mechanic II, Garage Division
George Owen, Electrical Inspector, B~ilding Department
Elizabeth S. Haeseker, Field Representativet Community Relations Division
5. Mr. Stephens moved that the Board approve request from Barbara Coleman, Library
Assistant I, Library Department for Maternity Leave of Absence beginning
February 21 and ending July 17t 1972 approximately. Seconded by Mr. Ramsey
and motion carried.
6. After discussion, at which time School Patrolman James Ryan talked with Board
members, Mr. Stephens moved that the Board accept the Director's recommendation
to deny Mr. Ryan's request to regain his seniority and a wage adjustment.
Seconded by Mr. Schardt. Motion carried.
7.
Mr. Stephens moved that the Board approve transfer of John D. Lindsey,
Electrician-Lineman lIt Traffic Engineering Department to Bldg. Maintenance
Division ~nd transfer of Phillip Rowe; Laborer from Incinerator Division to
Parks & Recreation Department. Seconded by Mr. Blackstone and motion
carried.

Mr. Stephens moved that the Board approve the placement of Stephen Weller,
Clerk-Typist III, .City Clerk Department (Emergency) in Step 2 of Range'40
($226 bi-weekly). Seconded by Mr. Blackstone. Motion carried.
