I 'j The Clearwater Civil Service Board met in regular session Monday evening, August 10, 1971 in the Civil Service Office at City Hall. J I J 1 i ! 'j Members present: Armand J. Falzone, Cal Blackstone, and Clifton Stephens. Visitors: Mrs. Connie Marquardt, League of Women Voters and Mr. Gerald Weimer, As'st. City Nanager Chairman Falzone called meeting to order. Mr. Blackstone moved the minutes of the meeting of July 12, 1971 be accepted as submitted. Seconded by Mr. Stephens and matron carried. I Director reported on certifications and appointments. Director reported on assembled examinations conducted. Director reported on lay-offs, suspensions and dismissals. No Board action '\necessary. Mr. Stephens moved that the resignations of Mary A. Brown, Clerk-Typist I, Building Department, Corinne L. Gibson, Clerk-Typist It Municipal Court Department, Paul Behnken, Laborer, Bldg. Maintenance Division, Public Works Department, 'Arthur H. Thomas, Mechanic I, Garage Division, Public Works Department, , Verdie Miller, Clerk-Typist I, Libraries Department, Philip F. Hines, Toll Attendant, Marine Division, Parks & Recreation Department, Charles Howard, Janitor, Parks & Recreation Department, Gary Browning, Robert Colmer, Roland Kemp and George Byrnes, Laborers, Parks & Recreation Department, Frank Rayner, Groundskeeper, Parks & Recreation Department, Anthony J. Piciotto, Laborer, Traffic Engineering Department, ,Alfonso Bowen and Cleo Fruster, Sanitation Workers, Sanitation Division, Utilities Department and Vicki M. Sidebottom, Clerk-Typist I, Water pollution Control Division, Utilities Department be accepted. Seconded by Mr. Blackstone. Motion carried. 1. Mr. Blackstone moved that the Board ratify the Director's action in approving the establishment of one position of Clerk-Typist I, Range 29, Salary $155 bi-weekly in the Traffic Engineering Department. Seconded by Mr. Stephens and motion carried. 2. Mr. Blackstone moved that the Board approve City Manager's request to establish / , a new classification of Gas Distribution Foreman, Range 51, Salary $265 bi. t weekly in the Gas Division of the Utilities Department. Seconded by Mr. Stephens. Motion carried. ,3. Mr. Stephens moved that the Board approve City Manager's request to establish a new classification of Sewers Superintendent, Range 58, Salary $314 bi-weekly i in the Water Pollution,Control Division of the Utilities Department. Mr. Stephens moved~that the Emergency Appointments of Minnie Janca, Pnrkcttc and Phillip Griffith, Planning Technician be extended. Seconded ,by Mr. Blac~stone. Motion carried. Mr. Blackstone moved that the Board approve the following items on Agenda: 6. Meritorious pay increase for Patrolman Dennis Becky from Range 42. Step 1, $213 bi-weekly to Range 42J Step 2J $223 bi-weekly. 1. Meritorious pay increase for Mrs. Elinor HawkinsJ Secretary IJ Police Department from Range 31 J Step 7 J $213 bi-~.,eekly to Step 8 J $218 bi~weekly. ,B. MeritoriouD pay increase for Mrs. Edythe SheltonJ Secretary IJ Police Department from Range 31, Step SJ $198 bi-weekly to Step 6, $208' bi-weekly. M~tion seconded by Mr. Stephens and carried. Mr. Blackstone moved that the Board approve proposed Rule change as follows: Rule 6J Section 10. Veteran's Preference -- deletion of !land promotionalll from paragraph (n) (1). Seconded,by Mr. Stephens. Motion carried. Director told Board members that the Mayor and City Commission had unanimously adopted the proposed budget for the 1971-72 Fiscal Year which included a 6% cost of living adjustment for all City employees effective October 1st., Mr~ Blackstone stated he would like to make a formal request that the Director ask the City Manager for a ruling on the matter of falsified birth dates in the Fire Department.
